Let's Talk About Books!
What is a book talk?
It's an opportunity for students to present a book of their choice to class that they have fully read, and loved so much they want everyone to read it!
How often do I give a book talk?
Once per trimester is required. You can certainly do more than one--if you choose--if there is time.
What type of books can I use for a book talk?
Any type of book (fiction or non-fiction), so long as it is at YOUR reading level. One of the purposes of giving a book talk is to encourage other students to read the book--if you purposely choose books that are much too easy for you (think: small children's books), it will likely not interest most classmates to read the book. If you aren't sure if a book is the right level, talk to me before you sign up with that book.
How do I prepare for a book talk?
Two Ways: Use this planning sheet & checklist to help you. (Remember, you may NOT use the planning sheet during your presentation, but you may use a notecard!), and 2. Look over this rubric so that you know what you are being assessed on (SUPER IMPORTANT!)
