What is a dialogue journal?
A dialogue journal is a journal with which you will have a written dialogue with another classmate about the current book you are reading.
How many journals do I have to do?
You are required to write one journal entry each week, but you can write more than that, if you choose.
How will I get feedback on my journals?
You will be receiving feedback each week from another student. You will also receive verbal feedback from Ms. Severson every few weeks. Finally, you will choose one entry per quarter that you want to put in your assessment log to get formal feedback from Ms. Severson That entry should be the "best of the best" for the quarter for all your journals.
Who can respond to my journal entries?
Any other student in the 7th grade can respond and give feedback to your journal entry. However--it is advised that you choose someone in your literature class because you will receive the feedback and your journal back much more quickly. Also, you MUST choose a new student EVERY WEEK to respond to you. A student may not respond to your journal more than once!

Funny you should ask that. Here are some resources to help you write an AMAZING journal entry each week!

Follow these steps:
1. Read the ENTIRE journal entry. Do not skim it. Take the time to do a good job.
2. Write something the student did WELL in their journal entry. (i.e. "You did a great job not summarizing the book here.")
3. Give the student constructive feedback in a positive manner. (i.e. "You mentioned that you liked the main character. Could you explain in detail what you liked about him?")
